Castlebar Social Services were founded in 1973 to care for the older and more vulnerable people of Castlebar and the surrounding areas. Our charitable status number is CHY 9885. We are lucky to have approximately 60 dedicated volunteers who assist us in providing a variety of quality services.
We work closely with the Alzheimer Society of Ireland and provide meals on wheels to the local daycare respite home in Castlebar. our services are found to be of immense value for the elderly people of Castlebar. The value of social activity for the elderly should not be underestimated. Isolation of the elderly can lead to loneliness and feelings of abandonment. Social activity with people of a similar age can provide stimulation at a level that younger generations may not be able to provide. That’s why we offer numerous social activities to the elderly here in our Castlebar centre.

Meals On Wheels
One of the main services we offer in Castlebar Social Services is the provision of meals on wheels. We provide this service daily, 365 days a year including Christmas. The charge is €7 for 3 course meal. You can choose to have a meal 1 day per week or 7, whichever suits your personal situation.
A typical meal provided to a participant consists of a starter of soup, main course and dessert. All our meals are prepared in house, and consist of the highest quality ingredients with all our meals being nutritionally beneficial.
